Genuine or aftermarket? A smart buyer’s guide
When to choose a genuine part — and when an aftermarket one is the smart choice.

A common question: should I buy the genuine dealer part or the cheaper aftermarket one? The answer depends on the part.
When to go genuine
For parts directly tied to safety, such as braking or steering, always choose genuine or a certified equivalent.
When aftermarket is smart
For many accessories — extra lamps, exterior fiberglass parts and covers — certified factories offer excellent quality at a much lower price.
How to check quality
- Buy from a known supplier that offers a real warranty.
- Look for approvals such as ECE marks on lighting.
- Ask about the country of origin and the factory.
